PennHIP

A better way to diagnose hip dysplasia.

The research-based hip-screening procedure known as PennHIP has proven to be the most accurate and precise method to measure hip laxity. As early as 16 weeks of age, it can identify dogs that are susceptible to developing hip dysplasia. The PennHIP method is widely recognized to be a more accurate means of diagnosing hip dysplasia than the more commonly used OFA method.

Dr. Kelly Wensing and Dr. Jamie Studtman are the only veterinarians in the Granger/South Bend/Mishawaka area certified to perform PennHIP evaluations on dogs.

PennHIP evaluations require a little extra time and planning to ensure the best experience for both you and your pet. During the appointment, your pet will receive sedation so we can obtain the specialized radiographs needed for the evaluation. Our trained medical team will closely monitor your pet throughout the procedure and recovery period to ensure their comfort and safety.

Because we reserve an extended appointment time and dedicated staff for each PennHIP evaluation, pre-payment is required when scheduling. If you have any questions about the process or would like to learn more about what to expect, please feel free to reach out to our team.
